Fantasy

For game masters

Blow-by-blow swordplay: Stamina is the fight clock; Recovery is a tactic. Players: Fantasy. Builder: Campaign Guide.

Fantasy is not a rules fork. Initiative, Speed Bank, Hit, Parry, Dodge, and Recovery are the same as on Combat. The genre is named Fantasy in the genre picker. Magic, Mental, and Priestly live here; Shamanic does not.

The table style is blow-by-blow. A swing, a parry, a breath. Closing with a blade is a round's work, not a sprint past a loaded gun. If someone wants the chandelier or the gallery, that is their action — and it should cost them.

Stamina is the fight clock

Hits spend Stamina: max(1, weapon Strength ÷ 4), plus extra strength if they pile on. Twelve rounds is hard work even for trained warriors. When the bar slips yellow, Recovery (3d6 vs Constitution) is a real tactic, not a waste of a turn. Stunned at Stamina below zero: Damage, armour & recovery.

Movement is expensive too. A wall, a chandelier, a long sprint across the hall: nick Stamina or call Constitution. That is GM-adjudicated, same as healing between fights — the app does not automate it. The Recovery button earns its keep when you do.

Powers still need a conversation before points are spent. Powers guide for GMs.

Create the campaign

  1. Open Campaigns. Tap Create new campaign.
  2. Choose Fantasy in the genre picker.
  3. Name it. Leave Include default NPCs on. Save.

The checkbox only appears on a brand-new unsaved draft. The starter NPCs are more than you need. Easier to delete extras than to invent a cast from scratch. Details: Include default NPCs.

Bundled zones from Import bundled zones follow this campaign's genre. A Fantasy campaign does not offer Last Chance Gulch. Graph editor: Zones & locations.

  • The Inn — roadside start: common room, kitchen, stables. Move a few links and it is a thieves' guild or a harborside bar.

  • Whispering Depths — a cave for dungeon crawling. Relabel the rooms and it is a dwarf mine or a goblin lair.

  • Walled Manor — a large house with hidden passages. Noble, vampire, or something that should have stayed bricked in.

How Zones Work is the tutorial graph — import it, export to the clipboard, and ask an AI to help author rooms in the same schema. Nothing is auto-seeded; check the maps you want, then import. The graphs arrive empty of encounters.
